The Tory candidate rather ignores the complete facts in his letter to you last week. Rather than cherry-picking the results of one election, we in the Liberal Democrats have paid attention to all the results that matter.

In 2007, more Liberal Democrat councillors were elected than ever before. And in the last Westminster election, the Liberal Democrats were second to Labour.

The European elections take place this June. But over the next year, we can be certain that the next election will be for Westminster, and the voters of East Lothian will have the chance to rid themselves of an unpopular and ineffective MP. Voting Liberal Democrat will be the most effective way for East Lothian's residents to elect an MP who will give them the high quality representation that they deserve.

This letter is in response to one that appeared in the East Lothian Courier of 13th February 2009.
