Amy Rodger, Liberal Democrat candidate for East Lothian, has today called on Anne Moffat to concentrate on the many important issues facing East Lothian, instead of getting caught up in the Westminster bubble.
Ms Rodger, who has campaigned to save East Lothian post offices from Labour's closure plan, has slammed Ms Moffat for telling a fellow MP to "bog-off" in a debate surrounding the closure of this vital local service.
Ms Rodger said, "For our MP, who voted only two weeks ago to close East Lothian's post offices, to act in such a manner is disgraceful. East Lothian deserves a representative who will concentrate on the issues. Ms Moffat is clearly more interested in getting involved in an unnecessary and unwarranted war of words than serving her constituents."
She added, "Many people have told me that they feel Ms Moffat takes East Lothian for granted, and this is a view which is shared by an increasing number of people in the wake of such comments. MPs should lead by example and show respect for the voters they are meant to serve by representing them in the appropriate manner. This is something Ms Moffat is singularly failing to do."
