Amy Rodger and the East Lothian Liberal Democrats are campaigning in towns across East Lothian in order to halt the closure of Post Offices in the County.
Since 1992, both the Labour and Conservative governments have closed 7,000 post offices. Gordon Brown plans to close a further 2,500 before the end of the year. In August the Government will announce the locations of post offices that will close in East Lothian.
Amy said, "Post offices are essential to the communities that they serve. Elderly, disabled and those without transport rely on a local post office to access vital services."
"The Government should be investing in post offices, not closing them. The Liberal Democrats have published plans to increase the range of services that post offices provide, rather than taking them away as the Government did with the TV license."
"East Lothian's post offices have strong support, and i will keep fighting to make sure they are protected from this latest closure plan."
