Bell backs Lib Dem tax cut pledge

Jacquie with Vince Cable MPCllr Jacquie Bell attended the recent Party Conference in Bournemouth. She had opportunity to network with Lib Dem colleagues, attend debates and training sessions.

Jacquie spoke in a debate heralding the 100th birthday of the state pension. She called for an end to means testing, noting the problems of those entitled to Pension Credit but who have problems in claiming because they have dementia and are unable to answer standard security questions from the bureaucratic Department of Work and Pensions.This problems has been compounded by the loss of the Pension Book.

Jacquie also spoke at a Fringe meeting on Fairer Voting Systems and had a chance to chat to Vince Cable, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer on problems relating to mortgages and older people needing to sell property to pay for costs in care homes.

Jacquie said: "With Nick Clegg making a commanding speech and the committed commited to cutting taxes, helping families struggling with rising food and fuel bills, the Liberal Democrats are moving towards the next election with purpose and policy. With the East Lothian Lib Dem team, i will ensure that our tax cut pledge makes a real difference to people across the County."
