Commenting on Iain Gray's speech to the Labour conference, Amy Rodger, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for East Lothian, has hit out at the Labour leader's failure to produce any policies which will help families struggling to pay their bills.
Amy said: "Iain Gray has missed a major opportunity to spell out how he proposes to help ordinary people struggling to pay their bills.
"Families in East Lothian are being hit hard by rising prices. Energy costs up by half, food costs up by £30 a month, inflation the highest for 16 years. We can't let this go on. Under the Liberal Democrats' plans to cut income tax by two pence around 37,000 workers in East Lothian could save money. The average earner in East Lothian would save £357 per year.
"Last week I challenged the other parties to work together to cut income tax to help Scots faced with crippling rises in the cost of living. It is now clear that Iain Gray will put supporting London Labour before supporting hard-pressed families in Scotland."
