Bell praise for Cable

Vince Cable MP

The Financial Crisis deepens and is a sorry tale of woe for many in the UK and elsewhere. One time Chancellor and now PM Gordon Brown and current Chancellor Alistair Darling see their credibility and Labour's place in the polls tumbling

In the midst of the turmoil I'm pleased to say that it is a Liberal Democrat who has made all the running. It is a Liberal Democrat who has been noticed by his fellow MPs, political pundits and the public.

It was Vince Cable who first warned of impending financial doom. It was he who won the admiration of Parliamentarians and public alike as he described Gordon Brown's descent from Stalin to Mr Bean.

I would like to commend to the people of East Lothian Vince Cable as the Chancellor of the Exchequer the other parties would like to have. The man who has had his hand on the pulse of what is happening. I would also like to congratulate him on being awarded the Channel 4 Political Awards as Opposition Politician of the Year and winner of the Political Impact Award.
