I was interested to read the story on Page 40 of the News of 27th February 2009 regarding unsolicited mail by Anne Moffat MP.
It is not an isolated story.
Some time ago I had a letter in the paper regarding the Post Office Card Account. After that I was contacted by locals who had had unsolicited mail on the matter from Ms Moffat in post paid envelopes. They had previously contacted Ms Moffat on other matters.
I submitted original material including a post paid envelope and letter to Jill Pay the Serjeant at Arms at the House of Commons who passed it on to James Robertson the Director of Accommodation Services.
The matter has been investigated.
I understand that Ms Moffat has agreed to refund the cost of the postage. I am to be advised when she has done so.
I am aware that other MPs have been fined for misuse of Parliamentary Stationary/Postpaid envelope systems.
