Local Lib Dem Councillor, Stuart Currie, today expressed his concerns at plans by Scottish Power to build a gas-fired power station and massive gas pipeline at Cockenzie in East Lothian.
Cllr Currie said, "I recently attended a presentation from Scottish Power about their plans to not only build this station but also run a 17 kilometre gas pipeline through the heart of East Lothian's countryside from East Fortune to Cockenzie."
He continued, " There are many local residents who have told me that, rather than a new power station they want to see tens of millions of pounds of re-generation monies flood in to the area to provide leisure facilities for our communities which would create hundreds of sustainable jobs."
"I am asking the community councils, local groups and residents to let me know their views and complete the online survey at www.elld.org.uk
Whilst Scottish Ministers will make the decision on any planning application, East Lothian Council is entitled to express its own views on behalf of local residents "
