Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, has today a lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament urgently calling on all stakeholders to secure the future of the Combined Cadet Force at Knox Academy.
The MSP has called on all stakeholders from school staff right through to the Ministry of Defence, to enter into constructive talks to ensure the continuation of the CCF.
Jim said: "It is vital that everything which can be done should be done to enable the pupils at Knox Academy continued access to the CCF at their school.
"The CCF plays such an important role in giving young people confidence and life and leadership skills. For it to close would be bitterly disappointing both for the current cadets and for the future pupils at the school who will not have this fantastic opportunity.
"I would urge all stakeholders to enter into discussions with a view to ensuring the continuation of this vital and proud two hundred year tradition."
Last week, the MSP wrote to the Headmistress, East Lothian Council, and the MOD.
