HOME INSULATION SCHEME MUST BE EXTENDED TO THE SOUTH OF SCOTLAND SAYS HUME

12.00.00am GMT Thu 21st Jan 2010

Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland and Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson, has again made a call for the Home Insulation Scheme to be extended to the South of Scotland.

Speaking after the Budget Bill, Jim Hume said: "In tackling fuel poverty, the Scottish Government must make provision for the scheme to be extended to the South of Scotland.

"Homes across the region will lose out on insulation measures and the Cabinet Secretary for Finance must follow up on his promise to rethink the scale and methodology of the scheme, a view endorsed by the World Wildlife Fund."
